Gold trades lower as Dollar firmness pressures
(16:21, 12 Oct 2026)
Gold futures retreated below $4,200 an ounce in Asian trading Monday, pressured by a strengthening US dollar and diminishing oil prices. Diminished anxieties surrounding fuel-driven inflation, stemming from expectations of increased Russian diesel availability and an immediate Russia-Ukraine energy ceasefire, diminished support for the precious metal. The US dollar index maintained a position above 102 as market participants anticipate September CPI and PPI data this week to discern the Federal Reserve’s forthcoming policy direction. On MCX, December gold futures experienced a decline exceeding 1%, settling at Rs.149,870 per 10 grams. This week, investor attention will be directed toward US inflation, retail sales, and industrial production data to assess the Federal Reserve’s policy stance. Furthermore, China’s inflation and trade data, Eurozone inflation and industrial production, and India’s CPI, WPI, and trade figures will be closely scrutinized.
